Rafting & Kayaking Overview

Climb atop our raft on the twisting snake of Pin and Spiti rivers as it slithers and strikes through the lofty Himalayan cliffs and take the ride of your life. While rafting in the Spiti Valley where you feel that day and night arrive in their own languid time, where all is sky, rock, and river. Where sun and moon touch rocks billions of years old, where water moves with force and the creak of oars is the loudest sound.

These are not just words, and when it comes to rafting in Spiti with the Himalayan Shepherd team we assure you that it would be the best experience of your life. The Pin and Spiti rivers run east before meeting the Sutlej and our expedition begins a few kilometres from Kaza.

Some people really embrace the solitude, and some people don’t expect it. Though it is casually labelled a rafting trip, rafting in Spiti is far more adventurous and a divine experience. It gives you access to remote places that otherwise can only be reached with great difficulty. Running a rapid is like dancing with a psychotic partner, all proceeds smoothly until you step out of line and then you are slapped. On our Pin & Spiti River Expedition you will raft through some awesome rapids and pass ancient Gompas. Our five day expedition will take you through high ridges, glaciers, pastures and mountain tops.
